Well, I’m feeling particularly proud of myself. Tonight, for the first time in about nine months, I have painted my own toes. Au revior, pedicure circa Halloween 2011. This girl has a new coat of paint.
I’m not saying I haven’t had my nails done since the baby was born. I have. Plush Beauty Bar in West Hollywood caters to moms. It’s brilliant. They have eco-friendly polish and a little play area with toys to plop your tot while you get a mani-pedi. It’s fabulous. What is not so fabulous it the location. They’re on Fairfax and Santa Monica in the Whole Foods shopping center. If you’re from LA, you already know the problem. Please allow me to elaborate for the rest of you: The parking lot for Whole Foods and surrounding shops is unmistakably the innermost circle of hell. It’s a tiny lot always flooded with too many cars, too many people on cell phones, and too many drivers insistent on backing into their parking space. No matter how great of a day I am having, driving into that parking lot manages to suck every happy thought out of my being. It’s like the dementor of parking lots. (Did I neglect to mention in my bio that I like Harry Potter?)
Anyway, rather than suffer the intolerable lot to park and go to Plush, I’ll polish at home. I just haven’t had the time. Until now. Wow. What a difference it makes. It really is about the little things, isn’t it? I feel accomplished. It’s a small feet. I mean, feat. 😉
