[I]’ll be the first to admit I am a Francophile through and through. I think my fascination began with written French vocabulary tests in ballet growing up, and eventually led to a wedding in Villefranche-sur-Mer. A week before departing for my last trip to Paris was when I found out I was pregnant. Thrilled as I was, I was slightly disappointed I would have to forgo so many of the culinary wonders I love so dearly–brie, Côte d’ Provence, and cappuccino. Still, it was pretty magical to be brand-newly pregnant and in Paris. Rhys’s first trip, if you will.
Until we take him overseas, we’ll introduce him to the wondrous world by means of book. These are my favorites on his shelves.

Street art I encountered down the block from our rented apartment near the Bastille last summer. Rather fitting, no?
And a snapshot of a beer bottle instructing expectant women not to drink. Yes, even in France.
