[F]inally! After what’s seemed like an eternity, Heywood Cheese is open in Silver Lake! For weeks and weeks, I’ve been noting the slow transition of the little sandwich shoppe, hungrily awaiting it’s opening. Alas, as we walked to the Sunset Junction Jubilee a couple weeks ago, there was a hand-written sign on the door at Heywood: “Open today at noon.” And return at noon, we did. The offerings were limited that afternoon, as it was just a soft-opening before the big unveil, but the sandwiches were an utter delight. Perfectly melted brie between expertly grilled bread. The sound of the crunch of the first bite still lingers in my head. Oh, it was so good…
I’m super stoked on the addition of Heywood Grilled Cheese to the neighborhood. Gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches taste great anytime, and this spot stays open late: til 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Hell, yeah!
