hours on end in the pages of my most recently acquired paperback.
At night, when. I was supposed to be sleeping, I would turn on my
little bedside light, throw a blanket on my floor to block the
light from shining out into the hallway, and read until my eyes
were dry and drooping.
Finding time to read nowadays is much more
difficult for me. There are always dishes to do, floors to clean,
dinners to make, emails to return, work to be done. Most of the
reading I do now is toddler literature, and thought it’s not the
riveting, thought-provoking prose I might prefer, it’s absolutely
the most important thing I am reading, because I’m reading to my
son.
Nothing is more important than instilling a fondness and
interest in books in our little ones’ minds. So, please, be surge
you read to your children. For more family reading fun and
activities, come to the Jumpstart’s Read for the Record event!
