Our annual holiday party is approaching fast, so we made a trip this weekend to Trader Joe’s. I love, love, love Trader Joe’s. I mean, seriously. You don’t need me to tell you how great the selection and prices are. It’s definitely my go-to shop to stock up our bar for entertaining. I happen to… Continue reading holiday bubbles

thumbs down
I am regrettably writing with a bum thumb. I’ve never needed to depress the space bar with my right pointer finger before, and let me assure you, it’s rather annoying. What’s worse is when I forget to use my index finder and tap it with my sadly injured thumb. Let’s just say it doesn’t tickle.… Continue reading thumbs down
a small feat
Well, I’m feeling particularly proud of myself. Tonight, for the first time in about nine months, I have painted my own toes. Au revior, pedicure circa Halloween 2011. This girl has a new coat of paint. I’m not saying I haven’t had my nails done since the baby was born. I have. Plush Beauty Bar … Continue reading a small feat
dining with dad: golden state
On a gentrified stretch of Farifax lies Golden State, one of the few places in town where I’ll claim temporary amnesia from my pescatarian diet and devour a cheeseburger. If you go, and I suggest you do, be sure to order the Rasputin beer draft with brown bread gelato. It’s a rare delight.
going solo
Due to a crazy windstorm in our neighborhood last night, we are totally offline today. Luckily, the theater is dark today, so we’re playing office with Dad. Rhys found a stash of solo cups and is happy as can be, rolling them on the floor and gazing at the spectacular chandeliers.
rhys meets santa
My first instinct was to skip the photos with Santa this year altogether. Why, you ask? Well, for many reasons. a) The line is always way too long. b) The photos are always way too expensive. c) Did I really want to hand my nine month old infant son over to a stranger and trust him… Continue reading rhys meets santa
nine months old
Holy crap. This year has flown by at warp speed. I am alarmed at how fast it’s gone. Even more shocking to me is the fact that my baby is 9 months old. I mean, what? How in the world is that possible? It almost makes me mad. Perhaps I’ll compose a heated letter to… Continue reading nine months old
dining with dad: intelligentsia
It’s a guest star Dining with Dad series this week. Here’s Rhys with his best girl, Alyssa at Intelligentsia in Sunset Junction.
paperboy
Like his dad, my son is infatuated with the newspaper. Rhys loves the texture, the colors, the crinkling sound it makes. He’s a big fan. Yesterday he took it upon himself to demolish several of the travel sections we’d been saving. Hope you’re happy, boy. So much for being in on the deal of the… Continue reading paperboy
trapeze lessons
Oh. My. Well, there’s no clever lead-in to this post, as my adrenaline is still coursing through my veins. Plainly stated, I flew through the air on a trapeze. It’s something I’ve always (kind of) wanted to do. A friend of mine invited us to take a group lesson, so I figured, why not? If… Continue reading trapeze lessons
